Agree. The two recent season finales were letdowns, but I enjoyed some of the leadup episodes more than any series in a decade or more. Particularly season 1; 73 yards is absolute top notch, and I also rate Dot & Bubble, Boom and Rogue. Season 2 less so, but Joy to the World and Lux were decent.

Today's historic pic: Just 2 weeks before the line's closure for conversion to a tramway, a 4-car Grey Ghost converted Harris train on a broad gauge Flinders Street to St Kilda train runs past the Wright Street tram platforms under construction between Albert Park and Middle Park, Vic, July 18 1987.
A light-grey-liveried 4-car electric multiple unit train approaches us on a double track electrified railway on a downhill gentle left hand curve. At right, just in front of the train, is a low level tram platform under construction in readiness for the imminent conversion of this railway to a tramway.

Today's historic pic: The bracket semaphore signal at the up end of the station at Werris Creek, NSW, April 1, 2007. Signal no 22 at left was for Up trains from the Wallangarra line, and signal no 19 at right, was for trains from Moree. These have since been replaced by modern colour light signals.
Taken from a low angle looking up, we see a railway signal mast supporting two bracketed semaphore arms, pointing left, set against a deep blue sky. Each arm stands on its mini-post which projects up from a horizontal mezzanine platform that sits atop the main post. Both arms are painted red with a white vertical bar indicating that they are home signals, and both are in the horizontal position indicating stop. The signal head at right is a little lower than the one at left, and is turned very slightly to the right to better face trains coming in off the branch line platform. A black painted counterweight is mounted just below each signal head, and a control wire with some chain segments around centrally mounted guide wheels can be seen leading from each counterweight down the main mast. In the foreground is a post fashioned from a section of white-painted re-purposed rail. Mounted on that post is a crossbar supporting some metal letters in faded black paint proclaiming NO WAY.

Had a day in Melbourne today. There's so much going on at the moment.
Here's the new tram intersection being built at Victoria and Elizabeth Streets. Complete with world's first ever tram ski jump.

I remember my father telling me his first job was sewing wheat bags closed after they'd been filled so they could be loaded onto a truck (or horse cart maybe) to be taken to the nearest railway station. Nothing like that nowadays.
