Humans of all ability levels need support. No living thing is designed to be wholly self sufficient. But trauma survivors often interpret our need for support or sustenance as "needy" & "burdensome"-- like OUR need for support is someone worse or different than everybody's ever.

No trauma survivor who can't stop thinking about things we hate to think about is making a "choice" to stay "fixated" on them. "Quit thinking that" is like saying "you, reading this right now, don't think of a pink elephant."

Shame doesn't redirect fixation. It reinforces it.

Reminder that NOT consuming bad news all the time is literally self-care.

Being online you are constantly bombarded with information shoved in your face.

Remember to take breaks from it, whether it's a couple hours or a couple days. It really helps emotional/empathy fatigue and burn out.
