Powerful reminders of the need for action on this important but often overlooked part of the health and care system. We and others are calling for urgent improvements in the current process and for CHC to be as part of the Casey Commission 📣

“I have incurable cancer… My [Continuing Healthcare] funding stopped… I’ve now run out of money and the care home said they could ask me to leave.”

1/4 If you're interested in data about assisted dying, take a look at the Appendix of this new Nuffield Trust report. It collates international data about numbers requesting & accessing an assisted death, demographic characteristics, health and care needs and key reporting information.

🆕 Comparing Census data with 13 million GP records, we've analysed how good general practices are at recording who is an unpaid carer in England.

#Carers from deprived areas and certain ethnic groups are much more likely to be missed by general practices.

The #NHS settlement from the #spendingreview may look generous, but it soon melts away in the context of existing commitments - govt must be clear about the compromises.

Social care is also unlikely to see the transformation we were promised.

Striking from the #ntsummit session on Continuing Health Care is the amount of 'lived' experience in the room - and quite how complex people with atypical expertise in the intracicies of health and care funding have found it. Even without data, one suspects inequities of uptake are huge.
