On This Day in 1974, Earl Ross won the Old Dominion 500 at Martinsville Speedway making him the first, and to date, only Canadian to win a NASCAR Cup Series race.

In his career, Ross had 1 win and 10 top-ten finishes and was the 1974 NASCAR Rookie of the Year.
