Have had one of the best weekends of my life, and as usual, you can claim credit for the bits of it that involve a piano and songs.
Not long-running like that, but I was astonished to discover that the ‘autoglass repair, autoglass replace’ jingle is used in other countries by similar companies, translated into local languages, making it one of the most widespread jingles…
And it’s been over 8 years since I last saw @davidwynne.bsky.social in person, and it was such a surprise and a delight to see him again tonight. Might have been a bit emotional…
I haven’t seen @mikedrawsalot.bsky.social in a fair few years, and he is rocking a magnificent moustache, and still gives great hugs.
First of all, a very happy birthday to @robcureton.bsky.social. So glad I could be in London for the occasion!
When you walk into a pub for a friend’s birthday and see a friend you haven’t seen in eight years…
Really liked the show, it works so well on the stage. Andy Nyman is utterly magnificent - his late-show number recapping everything seen so far is a manic masterpiece echoing ‘Reviewing The Situation’. Very glad to have seen it.
Seats moved, legroom just not enough for me. I can cope with my legs at awkward angles, but my knee was smashed into the back of the seats in front of me and in pain after only a few minutes.

Big thanks to FOH staff who were able to move me into a box seat. Lesser view but much more comfortable.
At the Garrick Theatre to see The Producers. Hoping to really enjoy it, as the film of the musical really didn’t do much for me. Loved the original film, though!
Hi, so proud of you, etc.
Got back to my hotel around three, and about as happy as I could be. Days like this are rare, but so delightful when so many good things come together.
…perhaps unsurprisingly, my way took me to The Room Where It Happens, the musical theatre singalong piano bar in soho. Had one of the best nights I’ve ever had there, full of great songs and old and new friends.
Then meeting friends from Canada in a pub, before walking to the nearby Bill Murray for an incredible gig from @davidpostoffice.bsky.social (David Correos). Then, more pub and chat before we went our separate ways…
Started with a rare but delicious treat, a cafe full English breakfast. Then some hotel room chilling, catching up on Taskmaster and Celia Imrie Does Chaos (aka Celebrity Traitors).
Then up to Angel for a haircut and beard trim at an excellent Turkish barber (three hot towels!).
Yesterday was about as close to a perfect day as I think I could get.

He was magnificent. And I’m not explaining why he looks like this.
I knew this would be the Bicky Burger before I even saw the preview image… it’s a ghastly thing, utterly awful.

A kapsalon, however…

Oooooh the
Grand old… uh… Andrew
He had ten thousand… uh… never mind
Oh, it’s your actual birthday as well as the celebration? Nice

Taking advantage of the London trip to check out the Bill Murray pub, with Taskmaster NZ legend David Correos.
And then not-so-casually dropping an audible fart during a Saw-esque task explanation!
I love Celia Imrie. Casually dropping an impeccably-pronounced f-bomb over a glass of wine.
