Emergency, low-barrier shelter services remains a high need in our community, and so does diverse, permanent affordable housing options.
➡️ More respondents are long-term local residents than short-term or transient residents, with 71% having been in community for five years or more.

➡️ Lack of income remains the top reason for housing loss, and 40% of respondents listed eviction as the cause of their most recent housing loss.
➡️ Most respondents have been experiencing homelessness for 1 year or more.
➡️ This year we saw an increased in respondents identifying as Indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA+, increased youth representation, and higher reports of co-occuring mental health and substance use issues.

Given the increased visibility and impacts of homelessness in the community, and our own data collection efforts, we anticipated a higher number but the information here is useful to build on our understanding of local trends and needs.

Posted @withregram • @liftcommunityservices The Homelessness Services Association of BC (HSABC) has announced the results of the 2025 Powell River Point in Time Homelessness Count. Taken on March 7th this year, 80 people experiencing homelessness were identified.
No need to have read this first book yet, it’s sounding like not too many people have! Let’s chat about what the club will look like and where we’ll have future meetings.

This first meet is outdoors, so bring anything you’d like to be cozy and comfy! 🍂 🍁 🍄‍🟫
