New blog post!

I shout out my highlights from the most recent #SteamNextFest: geekbravado.com/my-highlight...

The event ends tomorrow so all the demos will still be up if you hurry!

If you had any demos that stood out to you, leave them in the comments! My wishlist has fattened even more.

If you haven't, come check out the Discord (link in bio) to hang out with fellow big box preservation weirdos! It's a good bunch over there.

Also, I restarted my old blog so if you want, maybe check that out and subscribe: geekbravado.com

There have been a LOT of new contributions to the site and there's a BIG backlog to get through so you'll be seeing those start rolling out on the feed over the next little while. I'll be at a measured pace, no 30+ post dumps, promise. 😉

I've also got some scans of my own to submit!

Honestly, no one reading needs to care why I wasn't about. Life just got a bit hairy and I had to triage some things to the backburner to make room for other things that needed my attention.

The good news is things are evening out and I can get back to fun stuff like this!

Well hi everyone! It's @pxa.ca, your humble BigBoxDB Bluesky posting dude. You may have noticed the feed's been pretty quiet for the last while and I haven't been too active on the Discord either.

I hate long threads so don't worry, this won't be one either.

Only 1 of the 17 games I recommended in my blog post used it and only for placeholder assets for their demo. And I didn't even check them beforehand. I'm not good at a lot of things, but I can spot AI slop pretty well.

Getting so tired of web sites chastising me for using an "ad blocker" because I run Privacy Badger. It doesn't block ads, it blocks invasive tracking. If your ad network relies on that, that's a failing on your part. Don't lie about what Privacy Badger does because your ad model equates to spyware.

Looks fantastic! I love how he looks ferocious but also playful. Playcious?
Game #44 of 2025: Battlefield 6

Thoroughly mid, like one of the mediocre CoD campaigns. Some flashy setpoints, but a lot of drawn out levels, on rails segments and a story that's ridiculous but takes itself super seriously. I mean, if you buy the game, might as well try it I guess.
And it turns out that I have to link my Ghost site to Google Search Console, which is a thing I just learned existed from their forums because Ghost's onboarding documentation is so horrendous.

So that explains why it wasn't showing up. Hopefully will start appearing in a couple days.
Oh cool, also discovered that even though @ghost.org is supposed to automatically handle SEO, that none of my posts are even getting submitted to Google. Searching for the literal title yields zero results. Well, that might explain some things. Hopefully their forums can help.
"If you want people to look at your content, you've got to promote it."

Me: Posts link to blog posts in a couple of relevant places.

Those places: "Stop shilling your own stuff! This isn't a place for self-promotion!"

So what, you want me to make sock puppet accounts instead? Sigh.
Interesting! I played a lot of FMV games on the 90s and have a soft spot on my heart for them. I'll give this a look!
Anyone got some #SteamNextFest demo suggestions? I've got a few downloaded, but not nearly as many as prior events. Not a lot's grabbing my attention but I know there's gems out there.
When you find out that despite hitting Save Draft, Hudu didn't save your draft and two hours worth of extensive documentation work you did last week just went poof.

I hereby propose Second Weekend. Can I get a second?

Not sure why, but my most recent blog post about Xbox wasn't doing super hot, then got a bump last night that not only mostly came from Europe, but originated from Facebook, which I haven't used since 2009.

So thanks to whoever posted that!

Also, check it out cause I'm proud of it! ;)
Xbox is being destroyed for the AI bubble
Xbox has spent the last year doing everything they can to shoot their brand in the foot and lose the console war. Why? Microsoft's AI obsession.

Oh man, how is it another #SteamNextFest already?! In the past, I started a thread here listening out the demos that stood out to me with little blurbs. Well, now I got that shiny geekbravado.com thing so Imma' do a post later this week with them all!

Game #43 of 2025: Cocoon

A gorgeous, multi-layered puzzle game from the creator of Limbo. Simple story, but it's about the puzzles. Starts not too bad, but gets brain melting in the back third. Did use a walkthrough a few times. Love the style and ideas! A fun few hours.
