As Richard will confirm, one of the C&R candidates at the Pt Chev forum was mocking when I asked a submitted question about safety and speed on the bird streets. I'd have gone Hulk if I hadn't been the moderator.

I know, but they could have been even poorer.

Also, more than 68,500 votes were cast on Saturday morning, bringing Auckland’s voter turnout to 28.8%. Classic Auckland. Like we all expect to stroll into Eden Park 5 minutes before kick-off.

"Do you have any relevant skills or experience?"

"No, but I'm demonstrably hideous."

"You're hired!"

Ooh. City Vision's Michelle Thorp now elected to the Albert-Eden Local Board on preliminary results, meaning a City Vision majority here *and* Waitemata. And Mark Graham could come through on the special votes. Not a good campaign by C&R at all. Maybe raging about "speed bumps" wasn't a good idea.

Deeply ironic that a former music video director who got a plum fake job at Meta by being a deranged anti-DEI crusader is really the beneficiary of MAGA-DEI, an employment scheme for people who lack relevant skills, experience or temperament. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

It'll be working tomorrow. Something to do with it currently running on a read-only database until the last stage of the migration is done.

Ah, thanks for the heads-up.

I felt sad too! It just happened at a time when people were away and they were prepping a big launch, so took a little time to sort. They were very apologetic when we talked about it at the party last week, given that they've done all the archiving and hosting for free.

"Hudson told Stuff his client wanted to be clear that he was not part of any protest activity outside Peters’ house." And he's being charged with burglary. So, er, not a deranged left-wing protester after all? www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3608...

I was struck by how much I missed the site recently when I was writing the MoDA history I was working on – there's a lot of knowledge stored on that website! Feel free to have a visit and a poke around in the search now we're back :-)

You probably didn't notice that the archived Public Address has been down for several weeks – something was sucking up the CPU on the hosting server. But it's back, thanks to the kind folk at CactusLab – who, by the way, also had a great 25th birthday party last week. publicaddress.net

Yeah, I have thoughts about this. I think it engages me with the rest of the community in way that's hard to achieve inside a car.

I read it. It's not at all a good piece of writing. It ignores the most salient, practical criticism of Weiss – she has no real news experience – and just wallows around in the usual puddle of grievance.

Exactly this! It's also, by definition, a constant act of balancing you *don't* have to think about, which is therapeutic in a different way. You also get a lot of stimulus from the environment: sights, sounds, smells.

Walking's fine, but for me lacks active peril, which is important.
