This is a time for costumes, candy, and fun. But while kids are out trick-or-treating, some adults are turning real lives into a nightmare. ICE agents are out in horror masks, spreading fear and terror.

Leave the masks for the kids. We don’t need secret police, not now, not ever.
The Trump Administration is using the Department of Justice as a political weapon to punish critics and chill dissent. The courage of David Huerta represents what democracy looks like in action: Standing up for others, even when those in power try to intimidate you for it. #StandWithDavid
California just set a powerful precedent: requiring federal agents to show their faces when policing our communities. Agents already follow state laws every day. Requiring transparency isn’t overreach, it’s accountability. No more secret police.

Let’s be clear:
The DOJ isn’t supposed to do the president’s bidding.
But President Trump’s made it crystal clear he wants political prosecutions, not public safety.

We can’t let that become the norm.
Troops on the streets get the headlines but that's just one of the ways the White House is attacking US cities.

The administration is pressuring blue cities to roll back diversity, inclusion, and immigrant protections by tying federal dollars to conservative policy demands.

When prosecutions are based on social media posts and personal grievances, the integrity of our democracy is at stake. When justice becomes political, standing for truth becomes an act of courage. #RuleOfLaw #JusticeSystem #Accountability

October is #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth, but the reality of intimate partner violence extends far beyond these 31 days.

As headlines and soundbites fill the news cycle, let's stay focused on what really matters: the lived experiences of survivors in all our communities.

What we’re seeing at the Justice Department right now is not justice — it’s politics. Prosecuting people based on who the president dislikes (and not the facts or the law) is a dangerous road. The DOJ should protect the people, not serve as a tool for political revenge.

President Trump’s National Guard deployments and efforts to sideline reform‑minded prosecutors aren’t just isolated moves — they’re part of a coordinated, authoritarian blueprint to strip communities of self‑governance and concentrate power at the top.

California initiated a movement. With #SB627, we said NO to secret police. Now, lawmakers across the country—and even in Congress—are moving to do the same. This isn’t just a California fight. It’s a national movement for transparency, safety, and democracy.

When women can’t tell the difference between ICE agents and criminals, they are left vulnerable to violence. Fake “agents” have already kidnapped and assaulted women.

That's why we passed the No Secret Police Act in California to ban local and federal officers from hiding behind masks.

#SB627
Transparency isn’t optional and California just put that principle into law.

SB 627 is a landmark step toward building more trust, accountability, and fairness in how communities are kept safe.
Governor Newsom just signed our co-sponsored bill SB 627, the No Secret Police Act, and he made clear: California DOES have the right to hold federal officers accountable.

For decades, federal officers operated without masks, and there's no reason they can't do so today.

This is about restoring trust, protecting survivors, and keeping our communities safe.

This kind of secrecy blurs the line between real officers and dangerous impersonators, and it puts women and vulnerable communities at risk.

SB 627, the No Secret Police Act, would ban law enforcement from hiding their faces, with commonsense exceptions for health, safety, and tactical needs.
There have been multiple reports of men impersonating ICE agents to kidnap and assault women. Part of the problem? Law enforcement in plain clothes, wearing generic vests, hiding their faces, and refusing to identify themselves.
In Van Nuys, an 80-year-old U.S. citizen was violently thrown to the ground by masked agents during an ICE raid.

When ICE agents hide their identities, they operate without accountability.

Yes, California CAN hold federal agents accountable.

SB 627 doesn't only target federal officers, it also applies to local law enforcement.

Can ICE do their job without masks? Absolutely. They have for years.
