Thank you All Things Open 2025 for another awesome event! On my way back to ABQ, and I’m looking forward to 2026 already!
Hello Raleigh! I will be at All Things Open 2025 today and tomorrow! Stop by the Elastic booth and say Hi!
I have heard the metaphor as “turning an oil tanker” which requires similar logistics. Shep does a good job explaining it here.
Turning a battleship is such a great metaphor but one I feel people don't really understand viscerally so let's do a little mental exercise. We've all seen a semi turning right, yes? We can remember that?
There was never going to be a moment when everyone—everyone in government, everyone in media, everyone in the population—was roused to action at the same time. We're turning a battleship. And Pritzker understands that.
I’ll do my best, but it won’t be the same
Hello ATL. There are significantly worse airports to spend a layover in, and few better.

Plus they have like, 6 or 7 Delta Lounges.
Hi ho, hi ho, it is off to ATL I go!

From there, I have a weekend in MD for MAG stuff, then off to RDU for All Things Open 2025.

finally a religious ad that might work on me
a tumblr ad that says “learn how faith can transform your reality and lead to unexpected blessings!” over an image of two chickens and a chick
....do we need to add this fact to the @tkingfisher.com weird animal fact treasure trove?
And I bet they don't poop EVERYWHERE.
You know what, chickens in the house don't sound so bad anymore.....
There are currently 19 chickens....

I'm sorry, but for budget reasons, your chariot to the afterlife is scheduled to be pulled by a chicken.
Small votive dedication to Hades showing a man in a chariot and, sorry, a chicken. With greek inscription.
I expect so, and you are always welcome to crash here with us. And the dog, cats, etc etc.

(The chickens do NOT come in the house)
Indeed I did, and then I fell down and ended up going to bed early.

Well, early for me...

If anybody knows who did this, please tell them I love it!
@tkingfisher.com , there was a VERY well-made Boneclaw Mother cosplay at this weekend’s Archon, don’t know if you’d find that interesting (not my photo or my costume).
I have to go through there on almost all my trips east. But at least for the long layovers I have lounge access.
Oh we’re out in New Mexico now. There is a ton of that sort of crafting out here. Some of the local artists in Madrid (so tiny, so amazing) do stunning work, and then when you head into the cities it is just mind blowing.
You should find a scholarship out by us - there are some amazing and talented people out here making things.
(Also the “I did not fully adjust to EDT probably helps as well” - I’m too tired to be grumpy so far)
The benefit of staying with family when I go to get tattoo work done - the coffee ain’t bad.

Made it to ATL without the need to tell anyone to FOAD, so it is not a bad trip so far….
I’m not there yet, but I had coffee before getting to the airport.

But I haven’t been through security yet…
Time to head home! Had a lovely time in Raleighwood, and as usual the hospitality of @lasrina.bsky.social and her pups was most welcome!
