And then recommended the album to my therapist so that we could talk about Up the Wolves.

They loved the album and related to the song in the same ways I do.
*literally* Mountain Goats. I only got into them after finding "The Sunset Tree" after dad died. His story is not my story--but I needed that album to help me cope with losing a complicated father whom I did not always love.
4. If music is therapy, who is your therapist?
(I like pancakes AND waffles, okay??? I eat more waffles because I bought Partner a cast iron waffle maker last Christmas and they're in love with it. But they're both so good.)
(And my point in posting this is that it makes me sad that I can't engage with some of my Spins as fully anymore because going into (hypo)mania is generally something I should be trying to avoid!)
(This is not subtractive. Leaning into obsessions *isn't* inherently bad! You only have to be able to set enough limits to take care of your human needs through that obsession. And part of that means recognizing that the flood of dopamine you get from a Spin can trigger (hypo)mania.)
I'm at the part in "Unmasking Autism" where they talk about how special interests and hyperfixations aren't bad, and it's okay to obsess over a thing, society just shames you for it for weird reasons!

And like--so true, bestie, except when leaning into your obsessions leads to manic episodes 😭
yes true. And then take a little nap on the top

For those attending #NoKings on Saturday, highly recommend wearing a mask, if not for health reasons, then for privacy; don't make it easy for bad guys to ID you

If you do bring your phone, lock it with a password or pattern, NOT biometrics

anyway whatever, look at my socks
A photo of warm fleece-lined socks with white and grey stripes. They go up to mid-calf. At the top of the foot, there are little cat ears extending outwards and little cat faces embroidered on.
I know ending these messages with a heart could come across as passive aggressive, so I've been trying to end them with a flower to indicate kind, gentle intent. Is that having the opposite effect? Is there some other symbol I should be using? Does it not matter, because ableists gonna ableist? 🤷‍♀️
Resetting this counter to zero again! Lasted a few months this time, I think?

Y'all REALLY hate listening to disabled folks lmao
PSA: Please make sure that in your advocacy for transportation improvements (e.g. better bike lanes and public transit), you're listening to disabled people about what does & doesn't work for them. 🌻
This didn't last an hour before I'm having to mute the thread, which just... proves my point, lol.

I am asking to *add* perspectives. Not remove anything. 🌻
I agree with building a world with more pedestrians, cycling, and transit--one that is less dependent on cars.
It is scary to see folks building a future for public transit that doesn't take various disabled voices into account. That's not an accusation on anyone--just a common trend I see in "alternative transit" spaces **often.**
We are in alignment that car-centrism is bad, and that it should be about *expanding options.* 🌻

For many people, it *is* about banning cars!! Someone a comment above you said "no one should need a car" and--okay, but right now myself and many disabled friends still do.
I am not misinterpreting this.

Again--I thoroughly support transit advocacy. Many disabled people DO still need cars. I am saying that transit advocates too often leave those voices out of the conversation. Few proposed solutions for increasing "alternative" transit work for me & disabled friends.
I wouldn't say so. It was that, and a GOP Congressman had a Nazi flag in his office. He's of course claiming Antifa put it there (lol), and meanwhile Vance is downplaying the Young Republicans' shit as "just jokes." So. Nazi government continues Nazi'ing.
Wait! Hold on the screeching, new socks came in the mail
*SCREECHING INTENSIFIES*
sorry I can't take your call*! my schedule is jam-packed right now with pacing in circles making high-pitched screeching noises. I will endeavor to get back to you in 2-6 weeks (or when hypomania next allows). thanks!

* any kind of correspondence
Yes, that's basically it
I agree--and disabled people like me are so often left out of the conversation! I support advocacy for non-car transportation, but a world with only pedestrians, bikes, and public transit would leave so many disabled people behind. 🌻
Virtual hugs offered! Sending all the good vibes for you and your family.
Still in! The real challenge round for the Twin Cities will be this coming Tuesday...
Who in Minnesota is still in the Last To Turn On The Furnace competition? We are still playing at our place here in St. Paul. I assume Northern Minnesotans were forced out weeks ago?

catsitting for our former next door neighbor who lives in a Mint Properties building. in the year or so since we moved out, a bird has taken up residence in a hole in wall of the front lobby. that's fun! festive! very normal!
close-up of a small gray/brown bird settled into a hole in some wooden beams dividing windows. sprayfoam is haphazardly applied near the hole. tail feathers of a small gray/brown bird sticking out of a hole in some wooden planks dividing windows
