Godless liberal (or so I've been told...) Slightly left of centre politics, music, and some interest in tech. And other stuff, obviously.

It was only parts of England and Wales that voted for Brexit.

Everyone else in the UK, and everyone presently aged 26 or younger was simply dragged down with them.

Labour, Tories, and the far-right Reform UK Ltd support Johnson's Brexit. Anybody who wants change should vote Green / Lib / SNP / PC.

Privatising a monopoly (whether absolute or effective) is always utter madness.
We've seen in time and time again, yet successive governments just keep doing it. I can't think of any instance where a privately held monopoly provider has delivered better outcomes than a public one.

Once again, this disgusting government removes the "person" from the equation completely and works solely on the basis of a "case" or a "migrant".

Nobody with a conscience could vote for this Labour Party.

We're now at great risk of seeing an element of sense being introduced into politics.

Just wait until they win contracts to support Starmer's whizzy new Digital ID Service.

Crapita are a likely bidder for work on the database underpinning the Starmercard.

Doesn't it give you confidence that that vast hoard of data will be kept securely?
poshbloke.bsky.social
Only among the over 50s, according to the data.
As a father, it is quite beyond me why anybody would do this to their child.

"The effects of Brexit are severely depressing the economy, but we're going to do nothing about it because Red Lines".

..."lose TO the Greens and Lib Dems", I should have said!
poshbloke.bsky.social
Labour really still don't get it, do they?
They more they emulate the far-right Reform UK Ltd, the more supporters they lose the Greens and the Lib Dems.
Looking forward to seeing Labour in 5th place in next years Locals. Maybe then they'll dump their disaster of a leader and his front bench.

Mahmood is up there with Cruella as the worst of the worst Home Secs of recent years.

Sadly, they've also supported the Tories' Hard Brexit, have supported Israel's war crimes, have both parroted and excused far-right lies about refugees, shamelessly cosied up to Trump, instigated an invasive ID database, refused wealth taxes, and embraced discrimination against the trans community.

Quite right - not an example of any special treatment. Just citizens of a third nation being treated like any other. Anger should be directed within the UK
There should (but won't) be a case for the UK Government being made to pay a measure of compensation for us having our rights torn away from us.

Irrespective, the scope of information is simply too great. I've said before, just give everyone eligible a ten year passport and include a photocard containing a biometric chip. Job done - if the stated purpose is as described. (2/2)

It will make no difference to illegal working. Unscrupulous employers who do not use existing means (which are not onerous) will simply not bother with this either.
As for making life easier - maybe, but only if you're the sort of person who can't organise yourself to access simple documents. (1/2)

Better than Rylan going refugee scapegoating on daytime telly, I suppose.

Starmer has already mentioned using this rubbish for mortgage applications. The last attempt at bringing in an ID database saw talk of an "entitlement card", which brings in show ID to use the NHS, apply for benefits, or obtain a passport or driving licence.

Political religion. No proof needed when one has faith.
poshbloke.bsky.social
No far-right movement anywhere has ever had actual workable solutions. Their whole message is predicated upon "othering" minority groups who can conveniently take the blame, and asserting their " version of "patriotism" with any dissenting view being "unpatriotic" or "bleeding heart liberal".

I guess it's because it's easy copy with no attempt at analysis or interpretation needed.

"Hail to the King!"
poshbloke.bsky.social
Well said.

I would rather the spokesperson said something along the lines of "We would like to apologise for our role in stoking up the present atmosphere of racial hatred and pledge to avoid any future outright or implicit scapegoating of immigrants or terming such views as "legitimate concerns"."

Spin snd selective reporting. Trump has a very savvy and effective media team around him.
The feeds are what they are, but the bit of Sky News I saw last night was Fox level pro-Trump propaganda.
The question of why a proven sexual predator and confirned autocrat was being lauded so was not asked

All ties in rather neatly to Reform UK Ltd accepting donations via inherently dodgy crypto.
Pretty certain that there will be more skeletons in more Reform UK Ltd cupboards if sufficient digging is done.

If other countries recognise the state of Palestine, they need to insist that Israel withdraws its troops and pays for the damage it caused to civilian infrastructure and civilian property. Seize assets if necessary.
Nobody should shed any tears over Hamas, but time to think of the ordinary people.
