I'm Pixie, artist and writer of Nigredo, an upcoming dark fantasy comic about Sera, a beloved healer from a small town who seeks the help of a vampire to uncover the truth behind the one affliction she cannot cure: her own rising bloodlust.

Some outfits I designed earlier this year. Seraphina (Sera) is an alchemist who works as a healer; the blue dress is her ‘work’ outfit, while the others are for different occasions and adventures throughout the story. She takes good care of her appearance, and changes her hairstyle fairly often.

En mi caso, esa pasión es justamente lo que alimenta el afán de superar los obstáculos que aparecen, incluidos los momentos donde falla la motivación. Me enfrento a un desafío mayor, pero con mucha más disciplina y cuidado. Aun así, sé muy bien que es mi caso particular y que corro un riesgo mayor.

Borislav’s castle is filled with supernatural artifacts, staircases that defy gravity, and clocks that stopped ticking long ago.

In my comic, vampires do reflect in mirrors, it's just that silver reveals their tainted nature.

I applied this especially to Borislav’s face, which was really intimidating to draw when I first started. Now, after hundreds of drawings, his face has become much easier and a lot more fun to work on.

I realised I was overusing straight-on views for my panels. Symmetrical faces are simpler to draw, but they tend to look a bit too stiff. Adding just a bit of an angle has made things more interesting and readable.

For some panels, I only made subtle changes, but in others, I redid the faces and perspective completely. I’m much happier with the expressions in this new style. And yes, Seraphina was not in a good mood.

After some thought, I decided to switch to a more "refined", slightly less cartoonish style. It feels like a better match for the tone of the story.
