You can always change the download setting to another folder, or as I recommend usually, set it to ask you each time - this solve the issue.

In my case, it is the Desktop folder that have most of the active files - just remember moving the Desktop from default location to another disk if possible.

Not exactly. “Busy” isn’t the key factor – concurrency is. A DB can be very busy but with one client (no contention), or less busy with thousands of clients inserting in parallel. Reads vs inserts also make a big difference.

This logic makes sense if there are many sessions competing, but if concurrency is low, the mechanism itself becomes an extra layer of synchronization that wasn’t needed in the first place. it can turn into overhead instead of improvement.

When OPTIMIZE_FOR_SEQUENTIAL_KEY is ON, SQL Server introduces a backoff algorithm that controls how concurrent sessions line up to insert into the last page of the index. 👇
