Last week, we were honored to send a delegation of 40 DSA elected leaders and rank-and-file members from chapters big and small across the country to #Cuba, where they delivered hundreds of pounds of solidarity aid and learned about the achievements and challenges of Cuban socialism.

At a time when the rich are intensifying their efforts to consolidate control over our community, it’s critical that the working class organize and fight back on all fronts.

However, our fight for public control over St. Pete’s electricity system is far from over.

Corporate interest groups and business leagues which have failed to thwart our efforts thus far will undoubtedly increase their endeavors and diversity of tactics within the coming months.
Last week the campaign to #DumpDuke secured a critical achievement!

By a vote of 5-3, St. Pete City Council approved a resolution calling for the Mayor to begin the process for a feasibility study on establishing a publicly owned municipal electric service to replace Duke Energy.
