My favorite evolutionary dead end for energy generation is the Mercury turbine. Maybe we could combine it with a nuclear reactor to make a truly toxic combination?

This is the approach used for woodgas - it is too explosive to store so it is made on demand. I do not know re hydrogen. I suspect insufficient area available for sufficient PV.
Because Hydrogen would need to be at the scale of all fuel being produced. Nuclear waste handling only handles the waste.
It is has a lower flammability limit of 4% in air and an upper flammability limit of 75%. Compared to methane which is 5% to 14%. And therefore leaks are much more likely to become flammable/explosive

Hydrogen diffuses into steel, so different more exotic materials are required that don't suffer from hydrogen embritlement. It must be stored and transported at much higher pressures so the pipes or tanks to handle it get much thicker, harder to manufacture and will suffer more catastrophic failures
Look I haven't done a lifecycle analysis on all the detrimental effects, and I am not qualified to, but I can't picture the catastrophic disaster (to end all disasters) that has been referenced.
Is green hydrogen from hydrolysis? If so then what has been holding it back is, the huge electricity production needed to generate it, the difficulty in storing and transporting it.
I actually think an accident at sea would be much much safer than an accident in port or near land. I don't see a mechanism to irradiate the cargo, you would have to somehow bring a substantial portion of containers into contact with the reactor. I think major oil spill is more ecologically damaging
Let me clarify, I simply disagree with you that is a bad idea. What is the scenario you are picturing when you say "the marine disaster to end all marine disasters."?
Predates containers but they were doing their best
molten salt reactors are much safer than light water reactors and I would rather have nuclear cargo ships than US nuclear naval ships sailing near me

I'm sorry, it's actually embarrassing that a senior minister of the Crown is resorting to op eds to get her point across without critique

If your policy is defensible, defend it under questioning by an actual journalist, without a paywall in the way
Hi, my name is Erica Stanford, and instead of having the guts to got through the proper regulatory process and make my case to the sector, I'm going to use sneaky, undemocratic means to strike at the heart of what it means to be a learner in New Zilund, and then hide behind my media mates.
Erica Stanford: Why I'm removing Treaty rules for schools
OPINION: The move reverses a 2020 change.

The forced burials are part of a wider pattern of extreme violence, including mass killings, summary executions, burning people alive, widespread sexual violence, and ethnic cleansing.

Multiple credible reports from sources including the Sudan Doctors Union, the UN Human Rights Office, and various news and organizations, confirming that people in #Sudan are being subjected to horrific human rights abuses, including being forced to dig their own graves and then being buried alive.

How The Media Normally Report On A Mass Atrocity

If they had been reporting on Gaza in the same way these last two years, the west’s support for Israel would have completely collapsed by now.
