Conceptual/theoretical research to clarify thought and misconceptions is perhaps the very essence of philosophy. However, the sense that current emphasis on academic specialization is prioritizing narrow discussion and a reduced focus on addressing practical, real-world issues is strongly growing.

A political analyst on TV just mentioned that "the oven is at 160° C" to suggest the political climate is very heated. Clearly, a misunderstanding of cooking temperatures: 160° C is actually a relatively low temperature.

Indeed. Inquiry can be a natural human inclination, but philosophical inquiry involves particular levels of intellectual exploration, analysis, and critical examination of fundamental questions in pursuit of well-reasoned answers. This presents distinct pursuits.

October 5: Apologies for the bad news, but today is one of the 3 unluckiest days of the year in the Roman calendar. Definitely let people know that the underworld opens up to the living today (mundus patet) and so you just can’t leave your house, especially to sail (also on August 24 & November 8).

The tomb was designated the “Tomb of Cerberus” after the incredible mural of Hercules fighting the three-headed dog that guarded the underworld.
