I spent about an hour learning more about the farm bill this morning. Difficult for me to find apples to apples comparisons and current data at the moment.

One thing I do know is that a federal government that doesn’t feed its citizens won’t be around very long.

The rest of the article does actually mention that farm subsidies mostly go to big farms that don’t need the help instead of small farms that do.

Apparently screwing the little guy and calling yourself “pro-business” is a selling point when you’re a Republican.

Here’s an article from a CATO institute project in 2023 arguing that the federal government is giving farmers $20 Billion too much. Surely that number isn’t coincidentally the same as a bailout.
