My first post. Wednesday Morning's great Saturn occultation by the Moon.

Nice job. Shame much of the country will be shrouded in cloud for the next week.

In the real world? 😉
peterlewis55.bsky.social
Yes, and/or a ballet. It's a different world with the ability to record/stream and so many digital options that didn't exist back then.
peterlewis55.bsky.social
In the days of just 4 channels it was still exceptionally rare to find it not shoved to late night. Not many opera superstars to justify prime time mainstream tv (of course in the digital age now is easy to find something to stream).

It was due to Pav that I found my love of opera (like many I guess) 40 years ago. I'd always been a classical music lover but listening to a tv concert of his whilst I tiled our bathroom and I was so captivated I watched till the end and by then I was totally converted.

Saw Pav perform 7 times. 2 x Tosca, 2 x Ballo, 3 times in concert (one of which was at RAH). Absolutely greatest operatic star of my (or any) lifetime. I'd choose L'elisir for my top listen as his fun personality lit this up. I'd choose also to watch him eat his dinner, which I did once!

Facebook is a cesspit of nonsense which you obviously seem to enjoy! 😉

Happy birthday, shared with the great Luciano Pavarotti.

At the end of the day it's another day over 🎵🎵

Is that what it's called? I know ladies who lunch is a thing in the civilised south 😉
peterlewis55.bsky.social
Haha, of course. I suppose you enjoy the tv programme Ladies who dinner!
peterlewis55.bsky.social
Lunch in the civilised world!

Coldplay's second album title but it didn't make much sense to me either!
peterlewis55.bsky.social
A rush of blood to the head I expect!

Sorry to any arachnophobes out there for me sharing this super close up of a common garden spider see on a riverside walk this morning! @photohour.bsky.social @worldwildlife.bsky.social

A pity cos its quite effective for me when doing the comet images but of course I'm using my smart scope for that. I dont know about traditional camera output.
peterlewis55.bsky.social
Ah, I wondered as the comet has quite a bit of a trail. I now use deep sky stacker which separates the stars from the comet. It's free so worth trying
peterlewis55.bsky.social
Glad you caught it. Looks like it needs a bit of stacking.
peterlewis55.bsky.social
Looking at the weather forecast it seems only a small area of the UK will be able to catch this.
peterlewis55.bsky.social
The big highlight was this quick change!
peterlewis55.bsky.social
I'd agree with much of that though personally I'd find it hard to leave Un Ballo and the latter Boccanegra out of his top ten, if pushed relegating Forza and Falstaff to 11 & 12. Just shows what a difficult choice it is!
peterlewis55.bsky.social
Good luck. We all need it with the weather.
peterlewis55.bsky.social
Definitely. It's getting closer!

Yes, each time I need to search in a different part of sky! Fortunately there's a useful site providing the coordinates as I'd have no chance relying on eyes alone (not that my eyesight is poor).
