The Detroit Scarefest was the socialist fair I've always wanted. It's free to get in. All rides and attractions are free. Workers come around and give you free candy. Yes, there are long lines, but you have to prioritize what you want to do. No one gets to skip ahead. Everyone is equal.

The show brought moments from Raleigh and Boston to Detroit. It was really powerful to feel them superimposed all in one place.

It’s been about 20 years since I last saw Ted Leo, and he put on a great set. His Sinead O’Connor shirt was killer.

Slow Joy brought a heartfelt joy to the set they performed. I wasn’t sure about the show but seeing them live sold me on them.

I don’t make it out to concerts as much as I would like, but seeing Texas is the reason, Ted Leo, and Slow Joy last night was the joy I needed.

I bought my Texas is the reason LP in high school so to finally see them 25 years later was a bucket list goal accomplished.

I used to mix up which holiday was Labor Day and which one was Memorial Day until @perchperchson.bsky.social taught me his mnemonic device, which is precisely what Kaitlin says here, that Labor Day was moved far from May Day to sanitize its radical labor roots.
