The world is not "Running out of oil."
The world is running out of cheap oil with current production.
Most wells only tap 20-40% of the oil in a given pocket.
It's just once you get past the initial portion, it becomes progressively more expensive to tap the rest.

I don’t think you should be allowed to gamble on your phone.
I can’t ban gambling. But I think you should have to go to the gambling building to be allowed to gamble.
Or are you talking about using a blockchain system to maintain validity? More of a “wallet.”
I’m saying “the moment an encrypted system has a large base of users, government agencies WILL ask for a key.” And only a precious few developers don’t give up those keys readily.
This is exactly what happened with the Salt Typhoon hack. Telecoms gave PD the keys, and then we got our lunch eaten.
The best way to keep user data safe is to minimize it.
And it sucks that trolls exist. And it sucks that there are pornbots and regular ol AI slop bots, but there’s a great deal of value in anonymity on the internet.
The Salt Typhoon hack should make you extremely wary of even encrypted data stores. When a site implements such a program, only the absolute highest principled ones deny calls from the government to install a back door, and once there’s a backdoor, someone WILL be by with a crowbar.
The second we get government IDs involved, shit gets stolen, leaked to the government.
And it’s all because some politician wanted to know who was behind the Goku Icon calling him an “asshole.”
Shared web presence across multiple platforms. But ultimately, you don’t, and can’t, and shouldn’t, really.
Just have to make a determination as to whether or not I’m an entertaining bot to talk to.
But anyone you’ve not talked to, in person, shook hands with, etc, isn’t a real person anyway.
Not to be difficult, but building a network of verified users with shared presence across platforms using ATProtocol is exactly what Bluesky was made to do.
You’re asking for a government issued ID (which WILL be stolen at some point) to solve an already solved problem.

As the poor guy was crying and retching, “Y’wanna still feel awful, but in an entirely new and exciting way?”
Neat. First ever organophosphate poisoning patient. Not so bad where they needed atropine. But still.
