Looks like a great route you have planned!
Love me some desert scenery! Gonna get on the AT?
I got to listen to that podcast on Friday. You got me googling images of this mini-bus. Very cool! How hot did it get inside there? Could you feel the bumps and turns? Looking at visiting Latvia next summer. I will be looking for those mini-buses!
Good Lord! An undersized electrical box for the number of wires and nuts coming into it. Some of the wires not sufficiently secured. Gah!
Such a wonderful episode! My girlfriend and I are considering a vacation to Europe, and I’d love to get back to Latvia. I’ve heard so much about Sigulda, and your episode left me ever more curious about that place.
Enjoyed listening to this episode. Any idea if there’s a movement towards a craft nonalcoholic beer there? Here in the PNW there’s several craft nonalcoholic beers in pubs and at the grocery store.
Pride Parade here in Portland, Oregon. Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers are about to march the gauntlet of joy! #prideparade #portland #lrsd #lastregiment
Exactly. I wander in my yard, proud of all the invasive plants, I have removed, and then I spot a stinky Bob waving its blossom in between a Maiden Hair Fern and Pacific Waterleaf. Gah! Then I yank the damn thing
Thanks for your reply. Certainly that’s unfortunate, but I imagine that sitting on the property instead of repairing is cheapest option for some owners. I do look forward to returning to Riga to see all those being repaired in 2014 finished!
When I was in Latvia in 2014, there was a lot of construction restoring the facades on the Art Nouveau buildings. Is that still the case? I know that there was little effort during the Soviet era to maintain many of those buildings

I love it! I have been quietly going around and cutting English Ivy at the base of trees. We got to get aggressive with the invasive!!
Absolutely. Gorillaz definitely has some staying power
We should all be fighting the battle against invasive plants! Bring clippers with you, and snip an ivy growing up a tree, or pull garlic mustard or stinky bob if you get a chance!

Alternatives to planting arborvitae in landscaping. Arborvitae are immense fire risks, and should not be planted AT ALL!

I will definitely check it out! I love your podcast on life in Latvia!
