#NES66 #AfricanDevelopment #EconomicTransition #PolicyDialogue
This dialogue is part of NES 2025’s broader theme: “Rethinking Africa’s Development: Pathways to Economic Transformation and Social Inclusion in a Changing Global Economic Landscape.”
How international development partnerships are evolving, and what Africa must do to seize opportunities in the shifting financing landscape. How evidence, capacity development, and knowledge systems can help deliver inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth.
In this session, Prof. Mariara will join Dr. Eric Ogunleye (Keynote Speaker, ADI Director), Dr. Yemi Dipeolu, Dr. Dr Emmanuel Owusu-Sekyere, and other distinguished experts to reflect on:
What bold reforms can strengthen state capacity and governance in transition states?
According to the African Development Bank’s 2025 Mind the Gaps Report, Transition States alone require an estimated US$188 billion annually to achieve structural transformation.
Transition states across Africa face unique vulnerabilities, from conflict, climate change, and weak governance to fragile institutions and large financing gaps.
Hosted by the African Development Institute of the @AfDB_Group, the high-level dialogue will explore the theme: “Driving Africa’s Economic Transformation in Transition States: The Role of Capacity Development and Knowledge Management.”
📅 Date: Thursday, September 11, 2025
🕚 Time: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm (Abuja Time, GMT+1)
📍 Venue: NAF Conference Centre, Abuja | Hybrid (in-person & virtual)
