I drew a few maps for Simon Taylor's Rhind lectures and I felt so guilty and annoyed (especially having dug on Shetland) at not putting Shetland in its proper place. But I think I can just about justify it by saying the maps were of Gaelic cill-names and British/Pictish eccles names, but still...😞
Phone the school and tell them she's spewing like a dog at the thought of that perverted decrepit old cunt visiting...
Well, I wouldn't go that far! I've written a couple of things in two of these books...!! 😂
The Place-names of Fife, Kinross-shire, Clackmannanshire, and Bute all have sections on Gaelic.
Please allow me to introduce myself/
I'm a man of wealth and taste/ I've been around for a long, long year/
Stole many a man's soul and faith...
@willdalrymple.bsky.social I'm reading your magnificent Golden Road, and I've reached where Xuanzang is in India, including Patna. It's quite the coincidence that the village in Ayrshire you are named from is close to a name transferred from India that appears in your book!
I wouldn't trust that c@nt if he told me there was water in the sea!!
Is it just me or does Rapture Day come earlier each year...?
I spent the 1st 15 years of working life finishing at 1.30 pm on a Friday. Then I went to uni at the age of 32. I had one class at 2 pm on a Friday and I was outraged...! 🤣
I went to my local Co-op and there was plenty of what she is looking for there. I even bought one for myself.
My wife is currently a senior nurse and this would be fairly unrecognisable to her (apart from the basics), especially the uniform, which changed before she started her training in 2006.
My grandfather fought in WW2, he wouldn't agree with this idiot. In all his life he never came near one part of the Empire, with the exception of Gibraltar. Even then he didn't see it, cos he passed it in the dark while part of Operation Torch!
No idea, I've never stood still long enough around the little blighters to find out!!
Or even Bridge of Allan!
In my part of central Scotland, near Stirling and Dumyat, we were hating fish long before it was woke, as Cassius Dio testified in his book. We also didn't like shoes or clothes...
Interesting. I just wondered cos I've never seen such a movie with other zombie beings and wondered if it was only a human thing or just lack of imagination or detail on the part of film makers?
See in zombie movies, right? How come we never see zombie cats and dogs? And could there be zombie cows, birds, or ants, even, if an infected person was to bite them or whatever it is they do..?
Congratulations, Geraldine! A magnificent achievement!
Yes, but can you imagine the angst and panic if it happened in the mid teens, such as the hour or two before the prom date arrives, for example...!
Currently reading Fredrik Logevall's Embers of War and the French paras have just jumped out of their planes! Fab book!
Err, any old rubbish from the Big Book that took her fancy and could be used to justify her decision...?
Academia recently did an AI review of my PhD thesis! I pressed delete...
