Nothing to worry about! The Mariners go up 2-0 in the ALCS and need two more wins to reach their first World Series in team history.
I have never been so nervous about a 10-3 lead.

As a person who was simple-mindedly using the NBA app for TV's and devices, what was the advantage of YouTube TV? For what it's worth, I didn't run into any problems with the NBA app, other than a very rare moment (every ten games?) of momentary poor connection that would clear up.
The Mariners lead the ALCS 1-0! I legitimately have no idea how to process this. I'm kind of looking around confused right now.

An extra shout-out to the M's for doing it in Toronto on short rest, they arrived late last night after playing 15 innings Friday.
Never been so happy to be wrong. ALCS here we come. What a way to break through.
I'd love to be excited about the Mariners' winner-take-all Game 5 tomorrow, but, well, I'm a Pacific Northwest sports fan. I've seen this film before. It would be awesome to see this team finally flip the script, but it's a tall order.
Nobody in the universe wants me to be more wrong than I do.

Normally I'm full-speed-ahead today, but I just haven't found the energy to care much about Blazers Media Day today. To be honest, I don't know if that's a "Blazers" thing, or a "me" thing.
Mariners fans, remember to cancel your subscription to ROOT Sports right now before it auto-renews. Root is shutting down in a few months, so next season you'll be subscribing directly via MLB. Here's your link.

The 2025 American League West Champion Seattle Mariners.
Seattle Mariners players (and their dog) celebrate while posing in front of the 2025 AL West Champions banner.
They've officially now "The AL West Champion Seattle Mariners". With Raleigh mashing his 60th home run. Absolutely amazing tonight.
I'm looking to watch actual basketball games, not "content". Crazy talk, I guess.
Adam Silver on the rising costs of streaming NBA games:

"There's a huge amount of our content that people can essentially consume for free. This is very much a highlight based sport. IG, TikTok, Twitter...YouTube"
Heads up, northwest folks.
Given the current wildfire growth across the PNW and the forecast winds over the next week, we could see a situation where smoke becomes persistent across much of the PNW by next week. Time to get those air filters / N95s / etc if you haven't already.
I'd already been eyeing the Clippers as a team that might underperform against expectations and get passed in the standings by the Blazers, and oh boy, now am I eyeing them even harder than a newly-launched taco truck in Portland.
Solid life tip right there. :) You kind of forget shoe repair places exist in a disposable society.
Casey says that only six of the eight games are exclusives:

11/18: Suns (NBC)
12/26: Clippers (Prime)
12/29: Mavs (NBC)
1/13: @ Warriors (NBC)
1/26: @ Celtics (Peacock)
2/24: Wolves (NBC)

NBC games on Feb 3 (PHX) and Mar 31 (LAC) are non-exclusive. So 76 games on BlazerVision/antenna this year.
The Blazers have gone from one nationally-televised game last season (against Lillard and the Bucks) to eight games this year. Six on NBC/Peacock, one exclusive to Peacock, and one on Amazon Prime.

BlazerVision should be showing the other 74 games.

Someone asked me where Kevin Durant is playing next season, and I stared at them blankly. It took me probably two full minutes to say, ".... I think Houston?".

That probably says something about me. But it definitely says a lot about Kevin Durant's career.
To be honest, I feel so uncomfortable speculating! The only thing I know is that the Blazers won't be boring the next few years.
Most of the reactions to the Blazers' new owner Tom Dundon amounts to "he doesn't seem that bad," which I guess is about as good as it gets with news like this.

His Carolina Hurricanes are doing very well on his watch, but with a single data point, it's hard to know where the credit goes.
Knight was almost surely going to be the face of an investment group too. It just never got that far, and it's not a coincidence he had a partner already onboard.
It's nice that the ownership group says their intent is to keep the team in Portland (and included a local person in the ownership group), but that's a pretty common quote for new NBA owners. Check out the Clay Bennett stuff here. So we'll keep an eye on their actions.

Based on the current valuations of teams, I suspected this was an inevitability. The Celtics sale was really similar to this.
As multiple reporters have announced, the Portland Trail Blazers are being bought by multiple investment groups led by private equity head Tom Dundon, who owns the Carolina Hurricanes. They claim they intend to keep the Blazers in Portland.
