Lots of home grown red peppers hung out to dry in my neighbour’s balcony. Once fully dried, they will be used for stews, sauces etc and also to make chorizo 🌱🍜🍁

I have a love-hate relationship with these. Sometimes I’m fascinated, other times they remind me of those horrible attempts to cover big concrete walls on motorways etc

I was cooking for 8 adults - in my amateur culinary crisis management experience, it’s best to keep things as simple as possible if cooking for more than 4 🤣

Cut them in chunks, par-cooked them in a frying pan with garlic, a fresh red chilli and olive oil, finished cooking in the oven for a few mins; added 2 beaten egg yolks before serving 😋😋😋😋

As I settle back into my autumn routine, my soup Mondays return. Patatas en salsa verde, a Basque classic. Onion, potato, parsley, peas & hake fishbones. This is a wonderful way to use up white fish bones that get discarded when you only use fillets on Sunday. More humble but just as delicious! 🍽️🍜

I love pear trees and thought about growing one in espalier but ended up choosing an apple tree instead - pears do tend to overripe around here, attracting a lot of unwanted wasps…..
