the broad public does not like chaos and disorder and everything you can do to emphasize that it is the federal government that is responsible for chaos and disorder is a point in your favor. it’s classic nonviolent confrontation!

one response to this (correct) observation is to say “well, the cops will attack you no matter how you dress and behave.” that’s right. images of cops and ICE beating grandmas and kids in inflatable frog costumes is a win for the opposition.

one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

Definitely read this article. WOW!

“I would be shocked,” Green adds, “if this is something that intelligence agencies of any size are not already exploiting.”

I’d also bet USA Law Enforcement agencies are definitely exploiting this vulnerability.

Obama: "When you see an administration suggest that ordinary street crime is an insurrection or a terrorist act, that is a genuine effort to weaken how we have understood democracy."

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

This is what this “Antifa” bullshit is all about. It’s about coming for you and anyone who would stand up to the authoritarians.

They’re arresting the cats! They’re arresting the frogs! #SavePortland #portland #antifa #amphifa
A humorous social media post shows several people in large inflatable costumes — including Garfield, Patrick Star, Mr. Potato Head, and a red lobster — standing on a city sidewalk. The caption reads: “They’re arresting the cats! They’re arresting the frogs! #SavePortland,” suggesting absurdity and chaos. A sepia-toned parody image shows four people in cartoonish animal costumes — a raccoon, dinosaur, bear, and unicorn — raising an American flag together, mimicking the famous Iwo Jima photograph. The word “ANTIFA” appears above them.

Listening to Trump people talking about «antifa» and «paid protesters» just makes me think about Universal Basic Income and like… there isn’t a billionaire alive that would fund that voluntarily.
