I had to show my ID to an ICE agent at the gate in the Seattle airport on my way to Redmond, Oregon. That was in August after I had cleared security. It’s here.

Saw the movie The Librarian last night at the Bend Film Festival. It takes place mostly in TX. Excellent film. Well worth seeing if you get the chance.

The stores in downtown Portland actually do have a lot of plywood instead of glass in the windows. But not for the reasons Trump is saying. It’s been like that for several years.

The problem is that Trump is never wrong so it only deepens his resolve when we tell him that actually Portland is quite calm and peaceful. He will never back down.

I told my son-in-law, who is a naturalized citizen, to take a picture of his passport and make it the background on his cell phone. If he is stopped by ICE, it’s right there.

Not just professional sports. I have tickets to NCAA women’s gymnastics at the University of Florida and have to bring earplugs. Basketball too.

There’s also the coffee wars - Starbucks or locally owned. Then the beer wars. Now that’s really something when it is Brew fest. Hundreds of handcrafted beers vying for attention.

I was in Portland the yesterday and Thursday. I saw no domestic terrorists in or around the area that has been the site of previous protests. Portland is a nice place. It doesn’t deserve this.

I stayed in Portland the last few nights in McCormick Pier condo on the waterfront. Saw lots of people sleeping on sidewalks and maybe a person or two walking around talking to themselves. There were joggers and cyclists but no one was bothering anyone.

When I carefully or not so carefully select shoes to match my clothing, I resent being asked to leave my shoes in a pile at the door. Plus I need the arch support in those shoes for comfortable walking.
