Spent some time a couple of years ago in the stores of a former municipal museum’s collection. It had a large collection of early C20 Heath Robinson style wooden vacuum cleaners. I don’t think anyone knows why.

This is from the massively popular polemic Merrie England. An attempt to replace coal with tidal power in the 1890s. Prof Thompson became better known as Lord Kelvin.

An excerpt from Merrie England by Robert Blatchford in which he suggests replacing coal with tidal power because coal is polluting and dangerous. It was published 1893 and was a huge bestseller.

Fair, It’s difficult to avoid applying hindsight, but I think there is a difference between, for instance, how Brook played last night - I wouldn’t criticise him for going for it - and the situation this morning

Generally I agree with you but this morning 30 minutes of playing straight/leaving could have calmed the situation. India were feeding off the chaos (and bowling very well) in a bit of bazzball way.
