This is reckless and dangerous on multiple levels and an outright obstacle to the freedom of the press. It denies access to information. It violates the public trust. And as there is no transparency or accountability, it completely subverts independent, objective, and, at times, critical reporting.

Nearly 7 million turned out to rally and protest for #NoKings yesterday. That's a damn significant number, but still not yet a number that could embolden the rest of America (326+ million) to recognize and decisively act on the dismantling of our democracy. Keep at it people! GOOD TROUBLE.

Attended a #NoKings protest in my hometown. Respectable turnout. I'd guess 7-800. One MAGA provocateur waded into the rally with his Trump banners and a megaphone. A handful of drivers on the main drag had a wild hair. Gunned their pickups (an overcompensating cliché, right?). Otherwise...

The Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie passed away October 17, 2017 following a battle with brain cancer. I've had "celebrity" deaths depress me some, but Gord's passing was especially evocative as The Tragically Hip has long been among the soundtracks to my life and Canada comfortably adjacent.

Played hooky this past Monday so I could spend a little bit of it at Detroit's Hart Plaza for an Indigenous Peoples' Day Pow Wow. A nice turnout for an event that hadn't been staged downtown in thirty years. Well spent... Every so often you owe yourself such a day.

I pretty well eat, drink, and sleep Detroit Lions. Lifelong Honolulu Blue and Silver... So, I don't "invest" when watching NFL football... But that Giants-Eagles game was something to behold as I saw the Giants in one single game manifest a damn juicy team identity. Breathtaking af to bear witness.

1/ I've family and friends who've served in our military. All had been "boots on the ground" in a theater of war and some deployed multiple times. Not much has been said of TFG and Hegseth's chaotic leadership or their arbitrary and reckless changes to U.S. military policies, standards, and norms
