Plenty of Cubs prospect content. Too much, really. Host: Cubs On Deck on YouTube & podcast platforms

Starting a thread for every single prospect that appears in a 2025 MLB Spring Training game. I’ll be answering the question:

“What does this season have in store for this guy?”

Plenty of prospects in the first game, so let’s dig in ⬇️
Riley Martin and Luke Little had the exact same season. Like, eerily similar.
Just me sorting through the numbers!
Reminder that Luke Little has a career stat line in the majors of…

35.1 IP, 2.80 ERA, 29% K, 66% GB, .607 OPS

… and his numbers in Triple-A this year were also outstanding:

59.2 IP, 2.87 ERA, 30% K, 57% GB, .578 OPS
Owen Ayers had a swing tonight that registered a bat speed of 85.6 MPH

The Chicago Cubs had only 4 total swings all year long faster than 85.6 MPH (one each from PCA, Ballesteros, Tucker, and Amaya)

(Major h/t to @benfb.bsky.social for initially pointing this out on the 1060W Discord)
Gonna be a real tough call for NL Rookie of the Year this season
Who is the first player the Cubs sign to a minor league deal this offseason to get people good and pissed off?
Wait, the Platinum Glove Award is voted on by fans? So it’s a fake award just like the All-Star game starters.
Cubs prospect Pedro Ramirez has been named a minor league Gold Glove winner at third base.
NICO
Nico Hoerner picks up the National League's Gold Glove Award for second base -- the second of his career.
Small sample size and he got some batted ball luck, but it was a good first season in full-season ball for Kevin Camacho.

cubs should trade for yoshinobu yamamoto
Extra icing on the cake was that the Dodgers won last night thanks to homers from Miguel Rojas (acquired in a trade for a prospect) and Will Smith (drafted and developed by the Dodgers)
That World Series was the greatest sporting event I’ve ever watched.
I’m laying in bed laughing because I’m having so much fun watching this series. It’s glorious in every single way.
Miguel Rojas just hit the Rajai Davis home run but did it even better
Sure, Shohei Ohtani is hitting in the 9th inning of Game 7 of the World Series but have you seen Kiké Hernández in the Postseason?
Hell yeah this is amazing
Tired: MLB rigging the game for Shohei Ohtani since he’s the GOAT

Wired: MLB rigging the game for Max Scherzer in what could be he final start of a Hall of Fame career

Inspired: MLB rigging the game for Brendon Little so he doesn’t have to think about the 18th inning walk-off
I’m really interested to see who stands out the most next year between Jackson Kirkpatrick and Luis Martinez-Gomez. Both have a chance to be the next upper minors reliever we clamor for in Chicago
Now would be an ideal time for me to throw out a bit of info on a middle reliever from the South Bend Cubs #ForTheBrand
By the way, I absolutely despise that a MASSIVE home run was just hit in Game 7 of the World Series, chasing maybe the best player of all-time from the mound, with the home crowd losing their marbles, and the broadcast sent us to a commercial break.
Bo homers in Game 7 of the World Series.
