As Texans watch cities wipe away our Pride sidewalks under threat of funding revocation from Gov. Greg Abbott, this project feels even more important. Help us write about queer Texans. Because we’re actually the normal ones. And this is our state too.

“—and what do we call prisoners who are children and haven’t been charged with anything?” is a textbook example of why imprecise language makes bad journalism

Just take out the word “unstoppable” 😭

this is how I have always experienced it 😅 as like… a little embarrassed to be asking what kinda simple syrup options a place has

As others have noted, it’s a deeply sinister symbol of our times

I’m never quite sure about the medical withdrawals but maybe that’s not fair idk

That’s definitely his narrative on Special Forces! But it’s not a particularly flattering edit either

oh yeah it’s super bad vibes

I’m lowkey obsessed with the fact that the athletes who are like 6”6’ never ever do as well or last as long as the pageant queen reality star dancer gymnasts who’ve had to grin and bear it while smiling their whole lives! Watching Anthony Scaramucci struggle to keep up with former Bachelorettes 🙏

You may not be shocked to learn he didn’t have a ton of grit when it came down to the wire

It’s sooooo hard to watch and I’m also addicted

other competitors have included Johnny Manziel, *checks notes* … Anthony Scaramucci, and Tom Sandoval

what a world — watching Jussie Smollett make a case for his innocence on the Disgraced Celebrities (and sometimes just athletes) Show where they let rich people do Special Forces training as a means of proving themselves — or more often, public self-flagellation

Other fav Lizzie Bordon fact: not having a lot of friends/family after the trial, she left $30k in her will to the “Animal Rescue League of Fall River, Massachusetts, which benefits from her first—and final—bequest to this day” after wisely investing it. 🗃️

Dang, humans are such complicated creatures

I just might as well hold her to the stupidly high standards I myself don’t always hit because the fourth estate is that important and I’ve always been insufferably righteous about journalism, unfortunately

On the one hand: I *really* want to see all of the notes and files. Every single one. On the other, I genuinely and deeply respect the commitment to never piercing her attorney-client privilege.

Researching whether attorney-client privilege continues after death, and the example given by the American Bar Association to demonstrate it is, incredibly: Lizzie Borden’s defense team.

One kept her files confidential, one left them to an historical society.

Lizzie Borden’s attorneys have split in the 100+ years since her death into one camp of keeping all related notes privileged and another of giving them over to a local historical society
