Over 2.3 million confirmed so far and the rural wave is real. We were tracking ~3,000 events, but small towns across the country are pouring in with numbers we hadn’t included. A submission portal for city + attendance is coming soon. All counts will be double-certified before the final release.

🇨🇦 The Trump admin is buying into Canadian critical mineral companies — giving Washington a stake in our clean-energy future.

CBC reports Ottawa can still block the deal under national security laws.

This is why we need a strong public broadcaster — facts, not spin.

It was basically a raspberry flavoured butter tart. Delicious but sweeeeeeet
Hopefully the amount of cheese I consume will make up for it
Let’s have some of this leadership on this side of the border, please.
UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I’m not really a pork eater (even though some may call me a porkchopper)
Thanksgiving shopping in Mont-Laurier - nary a turkey to be found. And forget about a gravy separator (tried both Cdn Tire and Home Hardware). However, local cranberries and a raspberry/sucre a la crème pie, as well as the fine local cheeses so it all balances out
Gauri: We are not immune in Canada but we also have enjoyed for decades a commitment to the idea of Canada as a welcoming place & the values of social solidarity. We can and should demand better of our politicians and find ways to meet people where they are at and reminds people of common interests
We are pushed down this funnel where we are agreeing with the premise of a crisis around birth rates when we need to question how the conversation is framed. How can we counter? Doubling down on our commitments and resistance to divisive narratives
Final question around the growth of the far right - fashioning policies around racist notions of purity etc. the movements driving anti gender attacks are the same ones driving anti BLM, anti-immigrant sentiments and more
Claire from Dignity Network - we get caught in the trap of dog whistles like “the queer agenda”.
There is so much that can unite us - to call for more robust public services, care systems, etc
