I've written sporadically on the internet before on and off throughout the years, but I'm very happy to debut my new piece via @polygon.com in which I dive into the brief cinematic history of the Black Vampire. If you liked SINNERs, then this is for you.

And now it's time for the 10th and final film of the Sitges Film Festival: SHE'S GOT NO NAME.
Enjoyed this immensely. A grounded sci-fi thriller that takes TERMINATOR and GROUNDHOG DAY and flips it where Sarah Connor traverses the multiverse killing the T-800 that killed John Connor.

A fantastic synth score and stellar performances from Michaela McManus and Stella Marcus. Very solid.

A great premise and concept that owes itself to Raimi's seminal classic while also being incredibly charming and inventive in its own right. An at times gross, and spooky delight.

I'm 3 years late, but if the series wasn't still ongoing, then by God the spirit of Evil Dead 2 is carried forward by DEADSTREAM. I don't recall the last time I had such a blast with a horror comedy. Evil Dead but for the modern asshole streamer age.
It pummels the senses from every angle imaginable and left me drained by the finale. And that's with the caveat that I don't have kids so I can only imagine how personal this is for the director and parents alike.
Thought this was incredible and one of the best for the year. Rose Byrne gives such a committed and exhausted performance on the psychological assault of child raising. You've never wanted someone to catch more of a break.

It's genuinely disturbing in a way I don't think this series has ever gone. It leaves an indelible mark as the penultimate short. I'm glad they had the wherewithal to end on something more fun because that would have been a genuine bummer. One of the best entries in the series.

Genuinely think this is a helluva heater from front to back.

However, given the influence of Halloween 3: Season of the Witch on this entry I can't lie at how much this exudes *extreme* "Fuck Them Kids" energy. 'Kidprint' in particular is dark as Hell. Like violently so.

This wastes no time in showing Katy's guns at any and every point. They know who their audience is. 🙂‍↕️😎
This was fun! Exactly what it says on the tin. A campy throwback full of Drag jokes and old school green zombies. Will be a hoot and holler for those looking for something more breezy and lighthearted with just a tinge of that classic Romero social commentary.

Loved this! Digital mundanity gives way to a terrifying and absurd cyclical loop that challenges our deepest regrets. More thoughts will go on LB later but for now read @siddhantadlakha.bsky.social stellar review!

9 Years today. Saying she makes me happy is the understatement of the year. There's so much good she brings into my life and I'm so happy we can do stuff like this.

Next time it'll be 10 years. Onwards and upwards.
Gill-Man Menacing/ Gill-Man chilling
Good luck. Excited to check it out!

I have an interview with the director coming soonish to @starburst.bsky.social. It was a DELIGHT.
There is no other way about it. This was elite. Kenji Tanigaki's kinetic direction combined with Kensuke Sonomura's rapid pace fight choreography makes for maybe the most thrilling action film of the year. The finale fight I can only describe as The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...
Fourth film of Sitges. The one many of you have been waiting for.

Now Seated for Kenji Tanigaki's THE FURIOUS.
that takes no prisoners. It's relentless. Brian Le had the theater in stitches. Joe Taslim and Miao Xie bring the house down. Hope folks are able to catch this soon because the talent involved absolutely bring it.
