And then sometimes I feel like something like live 2d would make things easier but I’ve seen people that use live 2d and it CAN look good eventually, but even that takes years to master. Ultimately I would love to use blender but I suck at modeling. Lol.

Like I don’t want to trace (rotoscope) I feel like A) I don’t like the look of rotoscoped animation (like snow white) and B it’s not really the skill I want to practice. But doing it “freehand” based on reference just seems intimidating (even though I’ve done it before)

I always want to take a reference video and like trace a stick figure over it and then build my sketches around that but the only times I’ve ever actually been successful making an animation was just looking at a video, pausing it at key points and making sketches based on that, then filling it in.

I’m going to start a new animation project for the first time in a long time. I’m pretty excited about it. Who knows how long it will take but I’m committed to finishing it.

They set up a discord for people who were participating and everyone shared wips on the discord, got announcements, etc. nobody was allowed to post any full wips on their page until the release date, but they were able to share cropped wips and talk about it to build hype up until the release date.

Yeah it makes a big difference. Just liking is great since it actually seems to matter on bsky, but reposting and commenting directly put it in the feed of your followers. And hashtags actually work here too (they haven’t for years in twitter, but they used to)

It wasn’t huge, and of course the bigger artists got all the love, but it was really fun at least. And for me it kind of helped me get into the clique with some of the bigger artists, and I think really helped. Maybe something like that would help create more of a smol tid community?

So when I first started on twitter, XPisigma did this thing called “OC Summer splash” and it was like they got a bunch of people to do an art piece (summer themed) and they all released then on the same day with the same hashtag in an attempt to get the tag trending.

Yeah I can post there all day with my almost 500 followers and get like 3 likes total, whereas here I get a decent amount. Like for example posted a sketch yesterday and got like 20 likes, even some comments with just about 300 followers. It’s night and day.

Who are you talking about though? Because the twitter algorithm is “them that has gets” and you get deboosted for interacting with small accounts, so it’a basically impossible to grow from scratch now unless you’re an anklebiter that ignores other small accounts. It killed community.
