@ec.europa.eu reaffirmed the EU #MarineActionPlan has defined a clear trajectory including to phase out of #BottomTrawling in #MPAs. This objective is central to restoring ocean health, which is also at the heart of the future #OceanAct

UNOC, Attenborough's 'Ocean', the High Seas Treaty and a wave of legal actions against destructive fishing in MPAs - they're some examples of why 2025 is the "Year of the Ocean".
We still have time to protect it.

Consumers have the right to know what they eat.
In the EU, restaurants, hotels & processed fish, such as tuna cans, don’t have to show:
❌ Species
❌ Where it was caught
❌ How it was caught

We call on the EU for full transparency & traceability on all seafood. #FollowTheFish

Once management plans are in place, these sites will safeguard vulnerable species like cetaceans, corals & deep-sea sharks.

🐟rebuild fish populations
🎣catch fish to feed people (not other fish)
🌊safeguard the ocean, so it can continue to produce food

📢 New report: 94% of fishing vessels analysed by Oceana in the Spanish Mediterranean operate with allegedly fraudulent engines.

Consequences: overfishing, unfair competition among fishers, and ecosystem damage.

We urge the Spanish government to act.
