I used to think hyperbole was pronounced 'hyperbole' and that hyperbole & hyperbole were two different words.
It wasn't until I was well into adulthood that I learned that hyperbole & hyperbole were the same word.

(FYI, I'd mostly only read the word & it's not that common in day to day speech)
