I looove the sound of pileated woodpeckers in the morning!
Everyone taking a pocketful of sand home......
A biologist who worked out there had a hobby of photography. He sold his Sable pony photos at the old Brewery market years ago. Forget his name.....
Expensive and resticted to get there! If your application is approved, and there is bad weather at the time your flight is supossed to go, cancelled! Tough luck!
Holy wow!! The island is not very big!!
And the Vikings earlier. And in Cape Breton, there are claims of Chinese building ruins! Not sure about that, though.
AND British, French, Portuguese etc etc.
Many many shipwrecks of all kinds out there. If anyone made it to shore, there was nothing there and they died a slow death!
It is Because they are so few that they survive on such a blesk island! Well, also no predators.....
I seem to recall that one horrible year, researchers were extremely worried about their survival and brought in silage for them as there was sooo little winter food on the island for them. Generally it is a no no but I seem to recall they made an exception.
Oh god, yes! In NS on the eastern Atlantic shore there is a wee place called Spanish Ship Bay! And then there is the Oak Island mystery.....
Oh thank dogs! We can finally go to bed! Thanks, Jays!
My cat looooves lint roller! Cannot use it on me cuz he comes running! Every time he comes inside : flea comb and lint roller to catch any ticks that come in with him. Works!
And he is only 22! His whole family is there watching!
An old Spanish breed, I believe. I betcha horse breeders would like to get their mitts on some of their "geneticks"!
Treeless dunes out in the Atlantic right where the hurricanes from the Carribean pass by! Tough little beasties!
Protected, too! Even the research teams out on Sable cannot mess with them. They got there from shipwrecks centuries ago.
It is now a protected park and one can apply to visit it. Chances are slim though. A research team lives there, keeping an eye on the horses. Currently an artist is doing a residency there! Sable got rain all summer while we in NS got zippo!
