“I just want to express my gratitude to Dr Catherine Grant in the Emergency Department who attended to me in September

I had been feeling unwell for a few days or so but put it down to my multiple health conditions- a complex mix of Addisons, Lupus, Sjogrens, asthma and all sorts of other difficult things! I felt perhaps I had a chest infection that was making my Addisons harder to stabilise.

On attending ED I was seen very promptly which was very reassuring (all Addisons patients are at risk of adrenal crisis which means we must receive immediate treatment). I was whisked through to ambulatory care and had a cannula fitted and it was there that Dr Grant came to speak with me.

I was just so impressed by her knowledge and kindness. She made me feel so confident in the care I received and it was found I had pneumonia (despite my excellent oxygen levels and surprisingly clear sounding chest!) and was given IV hydrocortisone, fluids, pain relief and a nebuliser.

Are you expecting a baby, less than 16 weeks pregnant, and do not have anaemia?

If yes, you might be able to take part in the PANDA study looking at the use of iron tablets and whether they can prevent, rather than just treat, maternal anaemia.

Our Diabetes team are educating healthcare professionals about the signs, symptoms and treatment of hypoglycaemia during Hypo Awareness Week.

Hypoglycaemia, also known as a hypo, occurs when the blood glucose levels of people living with diabetes drop too low.

Women across Norfolk will benefit from a new mobile breast screening unit which has been officially opened by @TheSheriffHat.

Women aged 50-71 are invited for a routine breast screening appointment every three years. Our four units screen 30,000 patients a year.

Todays #ThankYouThursday is for Gissing Ward!

“I spent two weeks in Gissing Ward and was impressed with every aspect of care, from consultant visits to all levels of nursing care, physio, cleaners, and food providers.
The healthcare assistants were wonderful – always cheery and reliable. I particularly remember Laura who, when I was embarrassed at having my first shower, said, ‘First showers are one of my favourite things!’ They were all great, both with me and my husband – I wish I could remember everyone’s name.

Consultant visits were incredibly supportive. I never felt that they were in a rush. I could ask questions, and they responded fully. Professor Haywood even sat down for a bit one Sunday to talk about how my recovery would look.

I was nervous about leaving the hospital and being put in the hands of a different team as we are based near Bristol. He gave me the confidence to believe in the aftercare. I was so grateful."

Clinical Educator Justine Williams has collaborated with Serco to provide training on how to approach patients at the end-of-life.

They've produced an leaflet which explains what end-of-life looks like and what to expect when entering the room of an end-of-life patient.
