i even went to the opening of the museum because many of my classmates worked there. i've covered it for 15 years and very familiar with the collections, gri and all the amazing things they do now. but we can not gloss over history because we like the tram.

before he died the museum was under resourced. you can read about it if you want more details but when he died he gave his money to the museum. tax dodges.

his museum (now the world's wealthiest art institution) was open to the public for maybe five minutes and was intended as a tax shelter. the richest man of his day, he wouldn't pay the ransom on his grandson til they sent an ear. and had a pay phone. with friends like these...
