Morgan Percival
6-mile loop. 1,700 ft elevation gain
Difficulty: Moderate-Hard (there are a few route options, to include bypassing the caves and ladders. Regardless the route, there are scrambles and spots with tricky footing, requiring good traction. Avoid this one in slick conditions).
Then, stay left and walk to the base of the cliff. This cave is at the bottom of that cliff. You’ll enter what appears to be a hole in the ground and come out on the other side! It’s a fun adventure to say the least 😀 #newengland #hiking #wmnf
If you’re doing the Morgan-Percival loop clockwise, it’s hard to spot this spur trail. When you’re at the summit of Mt Percival, looking south toward the beautiful view of Lake Squam and Winnipesaukee, bear slightly right and begin your scramble descent.
A simple concept, one of those that’s easier said than done. But hiking is one thing that helps us build a stronger mind 🥾💚

One of the best hikes in New England! It’s not the elevation gain of 4200’ that makes this hike so difficult.

The majority of the hike is rocky, at points you’ll be 6-8 miles from the nearest water source, you’ll be without cell service the majority of this hike and weather can turn in an instant.
