Key findings:
1️⃣ Tripling global renewable power capacity by 2030 may need 47 million workers, up from 12.5 million in 2021.

2️⃣Shortages could leave a 6 million worker gap by 2030, delaying progress, raising emissions over 10 percent above pledges, and shifting the path from 1.7 °C to 2.4 °C.

What if there are not enough skilled workers for the energy transition?👷‍♀️👨‍🏭

Our new report shows how labour shortages may delay renewable energy deployment and raise emissions. It also introduces the Labour Market Transition Potential Index to assess workforce readiness across countries.

Our joint policy brief outlines five minimum conditions for CTIPs to deliver:
1️⃣ Shift trade and investment flows to drive new off-take and mutual industrialisation
2️⃣ Align industrial policy for shared goals like green industry and just transition

💡 Integrity remains low
Only 7% of companies, 6.5% of regions and 4% of cities meet minimum standards

🌱 Land-based removals are rising, but only 4% of companies set separate removal targets. These cannot replace urgent cuts in fossil emissions.

💡 Key findings:
✅ 137 of 198 national governments have net-zero targets
✅ 63% of companies tracked have targets, covering 36.6 trillion USD in revenue
✅ Regional ambition covers 2.55 billion people, up from 500 million in 2020

📢 The 2025 @netzerotracker.bsky.social Net Zero Stocktake is live

Published at #ClimateWeekNYC, the fifth edition shows global net zero pledges continue to grow, even as the US federal government retreats.

With climate impacts intensifying across the US, these actions move the country further away from a 1.5°C pathway and represent “the most aggressive, comprehensive and consequential climate policy rollback” the CAT has ever analysed, according to @niklashoehne.bsky.social.
newclimate.bsky.social
Just in time for #ClimateWeekNYC @climateactiontracker.org published new US analysis.
Key developments:
➡️ Federal targets annulled
➡️ Expanded oil & gas production on federal lands & waters
➡️ Slowed deployment of wind, solar & EVs
➡️ Rollback of emissions regulations for power plants & vehicles
