Grateful for my mentees and their trust. I learned I was nominated 4 times for the 2025–2026 Advisor of the Month. Although not eligible this year, the real reward is our day-to-day work together—and the cherry on top is their heartwarming words. Thank you to my wonderful group!
Ever tried to feel a vibration while concentrating on a tricky listening task? Our latest publication suggests that the auditory challenge makes it harder and noisier to notice and tell apart the tactile signals. Open access until Nov 18: authors.elsevier.com/c/1ls35brwfQ...
Our lab’s first publication on building an MRI-compatible tactile stimulator is out! Open access until Nov 9, 2025 → authors.elsevier.com/c/1loxQbXTPD...
We are excited to introduce our recently onboarded RoSenCo Lab member Suhana Bhargava! Suhana is a VT biomedical engineering undergraduate student who will begin by contributing to an experimental protocol on sensorimotor outcomes for individuals living with a stroke.
We are excited to welcome BME student Adharsh Sivaganesan to the lab! Adharsh is a VT undergraduate student who will kick off his work by developing an MRI-compatible robotic device designed for use with the hands of individuals living with a brain injury.
After a wonderful journey in our lab, it is bittersweet to say goodbye to Emily Tirrell, PhD, as she continues on to NIH. Emily will work with Dr. Rebecca Gottesman (MD, PhD) to advance research on stroke and cognition. Emily made a lasting impact, and we will miss her deeply!
We are excited to share that RoSenCo Lab alumna Amy Wang has joined the MD-PhD program at UNC! We are so proud of this accomplishment and look forward to seeing what Amy continues to achieve in her journey ahead.
Excited to join the @asnrehab.bsky.social Program Committee! Grateful to be part of such a fantastic community as we begin planning the 2026 Annual Meeting in Los Angeles. Looking forward to what lies ahead!
We are incredibly proud to share that RoSenCo Lab alumna Lindsey Sydnor will be attending medical school at Drexel University! It has been a privilege to be part of her journey, and we cannot wait to see the impact she will make in the years ahead. Congratulations Lindsey!
Incredibly grateful to the Department of Physical Therapy at Radford University for securing space at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital for our human subject testing. Excited to advance our stroke-focused research in this new location!
Welcome Nithya Ramani! Nithya is an undergraduate student at ‪@vtneuroscience.bsky.social‬ joining our team to support research on tracking sensory signals along the nervous system after stroke. We are excited to have her on board!
Happy Friday from the RoSenCo Lab!
We are grateful to have received a Radford University SEED grant to support the launch of our research on sensorimotor impairments following stroke in Southwest Virginia. Recruitment for our human subject studies will begin soon—stay tuned for updates!
Thanks to support from 4-VA, we're teaming up with Radford University to explore how stroke affects the way people perceive objects during two-handed tasks. Stay tuned for insights from this important research!
Super impressed with the @virginia_tech Whole Health Consortium symposium! Great to interact and get feedback on our initial investigation relevant to conducting stroke-related research in a rural setting.
Huge congratulations to former lab member Eileen Medina on her acceptance to Cornell Law School’s Class of 2028! Wishing you all the best on this exciting new chapter!
Great to see Dr. Tirrell (former PhD student in the RoSenCo Lab) give a speech at commencement as the graduate student speaker! 🎓🎉
We are thrilled to announce that lab member Emily Tirrell has successfully defended her dissertation. Congratulations to the newly minted Dr. Tirrell! 🥳👏
Grateful to #ASNR2025 for the opportunity to discuss the importance of integrating lived brain injury experiences into neurorehab education and research!
Dr. @nettagurari.bsky.social introduced our next #ASNR2025 Symposium, focusing on the human side of #BrainInjury with educational approaches to the lived experience. She highlighted current limitations and the need for interdisciplinary communication and engagement to get the best possible outcomes.

A shout out to Emily Tirrell and Nahid Kalantaryardebily for sharing work in the RoSenCo Lab with high school students during National Biomechanics Day!
We are delighted to congratulate Emily Tirrell on her first first-author publication! Her research provides compelling insights into the diverse factors influencing tactile perception, such as arm dominance, nerve, anatomical location, sex, and age. link.springer.com/article/10.1...
Congratulations to RoSenCo Lab member Emily Tirrell on receiving the Virginia Tech Aspire! Award for Embrace Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) as a Way of Life. Well deserved!! experience.vt.edu/2017/Emily_T...
