Final rain totals show over a half a foot fell across southeast Massachusetts. Unfortunately, not all of New England got in on the storm, and the areas entrenched in an extreme drought across northern New England didn't very see much. #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx #MEwx #NHwx #VTwx

It wasn't all that impactful in the grand scheme of New England storms, but today is a good reminder that New England's stormy time of the year is just about here. #MAwx #RIwx #CTwx

Just over 16,000 are without power across New England this morning, with over 11,000 in Connecticut alone. Outages will likely continue to fluctuate throughout the day. #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx

The first nor'easter of the season is on the way. While not overly impactful, it will bring a (needed) slug of rain, some wind and minor coastal flooding. Unfortunately, areas with the deepest drought will miss a bulk of the rain (though all of New England is dry). #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx #NHwx #VTwx

After a prolonged stretch of low-impact weather, the season's first nor'easter will arrive late this weekend and into Monday with plenty of rain, some wind and the potential for coastal flooding. #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx #NHwx #MEwx #VTwx

Frost & freeze alerts are usually only issued within certain dates (the growing season). The National Weather Service of Boston opted not to issue alerts in north central MA as the end of the frost/freeze program for this area is October 1st. Eastern MA typically sees alerts through October 11th.

A nice slug of rain is on the way from a rather strong cold front moving through. A slower trend does mean showers may last later into the day Wednesday across eastern New England. Widespread half inch of rain is still expected. #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx #NHwx #MEwx #VTwx

The widespread high temperatures in the 80s weren't quite enough to break daily records in southern New England, but the widespread 80s in northern New England certainly were. #NHwx #MEwx #VTwx #MAwx

Another chilly night tonight under high pressure. Now that it's October, frost and freeze alerts will no longer be posted for northernmost New Hampshire and the Maine mountains. Surf remains rough from Humberto as well. #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx #NHwx #MEwx #VTwx

A quick burst of fall begins tonight. A couple cool days and crisp nights will be followed by a sharp warm-up, which will likely sustain into early next week. Frosts and freezes will be coming and expanding south for the next couple nights. #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx #NHwx #MEwx #VTwx

Fall chill makes a brief return to New England midweek before warmth invades once again late this week. Hugh pressure keeps the region bone-dry, acting as a shield against tropical activity. This is a Rex-Block like setup. #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx #NHwx #MEwx #VTwx
