I know things about things. I love movies, video games and soup. Harlan Ellison was pretty sure I stole his wallet.

Mine is probably Orson Welles as Unicron in Transformers: The Movie (1986)
I think everybody has a “Wallace Shawn from Young Sheldon” — my first one would probably be “Vincent Price, the guy who did the voice of Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective”
I wonder if they had five years of ideas sketched out, and finding out during production of season 3 that season 4 would be their last made them suddenly shake things up in a way that maybe wasn’t ideal.
Overall this season of Strange New Worlds was fine. No huge stand out episodes that made me feel like THIS IS TREK. The outline of the season is pretty shaky, like they weren’t 100% sure where they were going or how to get there, but the journey is still pretty good.
I had let the last two episodes of Strange New Worlds sit for a while because I had been less excited about this season overall than the previous one, but they were both extremely solid. Enemy Mine, Gorn edition and SNW’s take on an Inner Light episode were both very good.
The depression is real big today. Very hard to keep going through the motions when you’re able to figure out the date when your government, supported by a bunch of your neighbors, will put you to death.
A movie you’ve see more than 7 times with a gif
It’s really interesting how the news is (rightly) reporting that millions of kids will go hungry because of SNAP, but the other headline is just “Obamacare premiums are high”, with no context that this is because trump killed Medicaid in an effort to murder everyone who depends on the ACA
The time change in my car, or as I call it six months of my car clock being right again
Anyway, I don’t imagine a lot of the Republican dimwits responsible for pricing people with terminal chronic illnesses out of healthcare have considered that a lot of those people are now able to calculate the exact date of their death, and have until then to plan their prevenge.
I still haven’t opened the email from amerihealth yet, but a 174% increase in my premium would put me around $1000/mo which murders me dead by at most February 5th or so, assuming I get my regular 30 day insulin refills at the end of December before my current (ALREADY TOO HIGH) rate disappears.
New Jersey families need relief NOW. As we approach the end of the month, people are seeing their healthcare costs double, or even triple, and making hard decisions about whether or not they can continue to afford their healthcare. 1/2
Why is it completely impossible to find out which board of education candidates think book bans are bad. Every year I get to the weekend before election day and I can’t find their fucking politics. It’s maddening. I get 1000 texts from democrats asking for money, but not one single one with info.
Where does the toilet that murdered Elvis fall on that list?
So weird how all the guys screaming stuff like “blood and soil” and “Jews will not replace us” and constantly crying about George Soros turned out to be antisemitic. Who could have possibly seen this coming?
Imagine being this cool and talented. Like, what the heck, my only souvenir of my Japan trip is that 1¥ coin I found in my raincoat pocket.
Travel sketchbook progress so far
I haven’t opened the email from amerihealth about how I probably have to choose between dying from not being able to afford health insurance and oh, wait there’s no other option
fucks sake, the most pathetic loser ass bullshit, “look, I wrote a letter” fuck
Oh man, unlimited PTO is such a fucking lie. They keep every second you’re not working on a fucking spreadsheet to use against you the instant they want to fire you. In addition to just generally fostering a culture where they make you feel like you let down your team if you take any time off.
I’m not a science genius or anything, but what happens to the insurance companies milking us for profit when we all stop paying and die because we can’t afford their premiums? Do they have a plan for remaining profitable when everyone drops out of the market?
Continuum is surprisingly good! And it has Crash from Crash and the Boys in Scott Pilgrim! Also check out Travelers if you haven’t, it’s another Brad Wright jam.
Continuum is also a gold mine for this
Excited for all the “I voted for Trump three times and even though ending SNAP bankrupted my farm, I’m going to vote for him again in 2028” stories over the next couple of weeks.
White House Down is one of my stupid comfort movies, and I just watched it again today only to notice how many minor roles are played by Canadian actors you’ve seen on sci fi shows shot in Vancouver (the SecDef is played by Dan Shea, SG-1’s Siler). Turns out they filmed in Montreal.
Anyway that’s the sort of stuff I think about when I see a new fifty skrilliondy dollar valuation of some bullshit tech company that sells plagiarized wrong answers to dummies
One of the ways money laundering can work is, you set up a commodity where you get to make up the price, and there’s not any way to tell how much of it you have. This is why the mafia historically got involved in things like trash collection, or construction materials like concrete or stone.
I went on vacation to Japan a few months back, and the one day it rained was the day we picked to meet the deer in Nara. When we flew home, I left my Japanese cash on the nightstand at the hotel. Next time it rained back home, I found this 1¥ coin in the pocket of my raincoat where it remains today.
