Holy shit. Everyone who can and is able to should contribute equally. People should be provided with a way to contribute if they cannot find a way. Nothing is wrong with this. Especially if your basic material needs aren’t under threat. Otherwise what- you want a market economy? Why is that better

The US does not provide free university education and vocational training. That is not true. Literacy is lower here than in the Soviet Union 95 years ago.

It’s not the only thing that matters but I think it matters. It’s more of a side effect of capitalists not being in control of the economy and political sphere.

I think if your socialism doesn’t raise average people’s quality of life over capitalisms avg physical quality of life it’s going to be a hard sell. I think it matters when socialist states make those wins over capitalism while under siege and blockade. And we should learn from them.

Capitalists have private ownership. Capital requires private ownership. Words mean things. A governing party managing the state isn’t made up of private owners. That’s not capitalism no matter how much you want it to be.

And no it can’t. The US never lifted 800 million people out of poverty in a few decades. We do not have near universal home ownership. Gains in gdp are entirely uncoupled from people’s quality of life in the US and its neocolonies
