Despite bans on importing invasive turtles such as 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑚𝑦𝑠 𝑠𝑐𝑟𝑖𝑝𝑡𝑎 into the EU, researchers have found that wild populations are still growing and trade is shifting to other species, suggesting current legislation isn’t enough to stop freshwater turtle invasions in Europe.
