Potato harvest 1933 v Potato harvest 2025 in Fenland.

Just dropping in to post this as the small group who pay attention to my posts might find interesting.

This was chanced upon. So not planned or researched.

Potato Harvest 1933 by Lilian Ream. A staged photograph featuring 2 children, 8 women, 3 horses a man. The ladies have baskets. Until relatively recently potatoes were picked by hand.

A black and white image of a huge potato harvester in action in 2025. The shoot unloads potatoes onto a trailer of another vehicle. 4 people were involved in the operation. An enormous field was cleared in half a day.

Unspoken: This fence abuts the memorial. Maybe coincidence. But will be painted for November.
