Just one example of why Hal is one of the most perceptive, and let's face it darned coolest, manuscript doctors in the business.
I'll talk about "missing steps" with clients at the lowest level, in a paragraph of action where it might be as simple as "The PoV character should be cursing their motivation internally here e.g.: She'd show those fuckers." The action feels simply *not fully realised* without something like that...

A text-heavy graphic proclaims: New editor for BFS Horizons. It also features images of BFS Horizons issue #18, plus Robin C.M. Duncan, the publication's new editor. Robin is a white man with greying beard and dark hair. He wears glasses and a black t-shirt.
Those are so great! Who is the publisher?

Morning Womble. I just reached the final page in Nina Allan's A Granite Silence, a novel centering on a true crime case of child murder in the 1930s, but is really a wonderful exploration of what constitutes the stories of people's lives. Magnificent work.
Likewise! Thanks for coming over to entertain us.
Grand set too from Edinburgh's @sarahshaunofficial.bsky.social. A little bit like if Julee Cruise had done an album for Ghost Box. Lovely stuff. Looking forward to catching them again soon.
Cracking night out at Cottiers tonight. Jonathan Millers 'Whistle And I'll Come To You' with live soundtrack from Malmo's awesome @deathandvanilla.bsky.social.

Atmospheric, suspenseful and creepy in all the right ways. Perfect October fun.
Black and white poster of a man's silhouette at sunset, reads:
Whistle And I'll Come To You
with live score performed by
Death And Vanilla
with support from Sarah/Shaun A screen bearing the logo Death And Vanilla in a red-lit church. Bottom left a Swedish man plays a Moog synth.
Best laugh I've had on a panel for ages. :D

Had this explained to me in SUCH enthusiastic detail on a panel at Fantasycon last year. It was an hour of pure joy. @katiebruce.bsky.social
"From Oded Fehr as a desert warrior to an oily-pecced Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep, every character on screen – regardless of gender or narrative affiliation – exudes sweaty sexual energy. What’s more, there is unfakeable chemistry between the romantic leads."

Right?! Book 3 doesn't end in a happy place. That better be a glimmer of light on the horizon, Justin. Just saying!
I don't know they're so randomly blatant.
Those darned book marketing bots are wild today. That's 7 or 8 since last night. This shoddy remixing of blurbs into attempted flattery that totally misses the point of the book. One even tried referencing the new DSC album in the service of silver tonguing me into...whatever it is they actually do.
