The vile and revealing ad campaign, unveils the black-hearted and gives the sadists a thrill, but is turning a lot more red-blooded, kindhearted Americans off than on. Witnessing man’s inhumanity to man is hard to bear. The individual battle, courage through fear; the societal battle, human rights.

Primaries don’t “tear parties apart.” They strengthen them, produce new leaders, stimulate essential debates on direction. The “tear parties apart” language is a tool of establishment pols to discourage much needed challenges. What will hurt Dems most is another Fetterman term.

SCOOP: Top Democrats in Pennsylvania are maneuvering to run against Sen. John Fetterman in a 2028 primary, threatening to tear the party apart in the biggest battleground state in the nation.
Scoop: Dems plot Fetterman ouster
He's still popular with Pennsylvania voters, even as Democrats turn on him.

"In free countries the law ought to be King. [But] some Masaniello may arise, who laying hold of popular disquietudes, may collect together the desperate and discontented, and assuming the powers of government may sweep away the liberties of the continent like a deluge."

Records reveal that the government of Bashar Al-Assad sold the 3 government-owned cargo ships to an opaque firm in the Seychelles in 2023 — two of them for just $1 each.
These vessels have been sanctioned by the European Union for transporting grain stolen from Russia-occupied territory in Ukraine.

What's the popularist answer to this point?

ICE's military raids and masked kidnappings are resonating deeply/negatively in the cultural spaces we keep hearing Dems need to reach: Manosphere, Joe Rogan, country music, disengaged voters. That's rare and it gives Dems a big opening to engage.

Thoughts on this:

Why should Bessent be treated with any more respect than Bondi or Patel or Hegseth. Bessent is using the same demagoguery about No Kings, and at Treasury is a participant in the Trumpist authoritarian project. The fact that he's a rich Wall Street guy makes his complicity less, not more, excusable.

As @lutzfernandez.bsky.social writes here, the MAGA obsession with the Epstein files was never about justice for his victims, it was only about their revenge fantasies about liberal elites, and now that's been laid bare:
lutzfernandez.bsky.social
In my latest piece for The Unpopulist, I wrote about the convolutions of the Epstein story and how the throughline is MAGA using children to achieve their political ends.

For MAGA, what's supposed to be about the children is never about the children.
MAGA’s Epstein Fixation Isn’t About Justice, It’s About Revenge
House Republicans care less about delivering justice to this sexual predator's underage victims and more about punishing their political enemies

They are in a long game and Trump just wants their approval. I wonder after seeing this article if Trump Moscow never happening has something to do with this pandering. And Putin knows this and can just string him along.

The Trump administration is planning to change the US refugee system to favor white people. At the same time, they’re in the Supreme Court fighting to gut the Voting Rights Act.

It’s no wonder young Republicans are sending racist messages. Racism is the official policy of the Republican Party.
